PUBLIC NOTICE

CALL FOR COMMENTS AND INVITATION FOR PUBLIC PARTICIPATION FOR THE KENYA HEALTHCARE PROFESSIONALS' POLICY,2026

The Ministry of Health has developed a draft, Kenya Healthcare Professionals’ Policy, 2026. The Policy seeks to ensure an adequate supply, optimal skill mix, equitable distribution and effective performance of the Healthcare Professionals to advance the realization of Universal Health Coverage in Kenya and improved health outcomes. 

The objects of the Policy shall include

1. Strengthening and operationalizing the existing Human Resource for Health governance, coordination and partnership mechanisms.

2. Strengthening planning, sustainable financing, management, and development of Healthcare Professionals.

3. Improving the quality and relevance of education and training programs of Healthcare Professionals.

4. Strengthening and harmonization of the legislative and regulatory framework for healthcare professionals

Now therefore, pursuant to article 10 of the Constitution which requires public participation and involvement of interested persons to be conducted before any person enacts any law or makes or implements public policy decisions, the Ministry of Health invites stakeholders and members of the public to review and submit any comments, views or make representations regarding the proposed Policy.

Additionally, we plan to engage members of the public and stakeholders on the proposed policy through public hearings to ensure the public and all interested persons have adequate opportunity to give their view on the Policy.

We call upon all persons, including women, older members of society, persons with disabilities, youth and members of the minority and marginalized communities to actively participate in the public participation process to ensure the proposed Policy accurately reflects the needs and expectations of the society.

We therefore invite all stakeholders, members of the public and all interested parties for the public hearings which shall be held as follows:
